  • Help each student develop a relationship with their dog built on trust and cooperation
  • Teach an understanding of canine behavior
  • Teach students to teach their dogs good manners using positive reinforcement
  • Solve behavior problems using the principles of positive reinforcement
  • Provide dogs with socialization opportunities

All sessions will also have secondary goals to:

  • Create enthusiasm for training
  • Promote responsible ownership
In-Home Training Sessions
In-Home sessions are customized to the client and their canine. As the name implies, these sessions are held in the client's home so our Trainer can observe the canine and owner in their own environment. This can lead to a better diagnosis of obedience and/or behavior issues alllowing the Trainer to customize the sessions to meet the needs of the individual and canine.

To schedule an In-Home session, contact us at 908-625-4841. We are available for morning, afternoon or evening appointments seven days a week.

Group Sessions
• Family Dog Basic Obedience I

This six week course is designed for adult canines and their owners to learn basic obedience cues (e.g. Sit, Down, and Stay) and loose leash walking. Also integrated into the course is relationship and leadership skills. Check message board for exact dates.

• Family Dog Basic Obedience II

This six week class is designed to fine tune and strengthen the commands from Family Dog Basic Obedience I. This class is a bit more challenging by adding distractions, distance and length of time to the basic obedience cues. Check message board for exact dates.

• Behavior Modification

Unwanted behaviours such as jumping, digging, uruly behavior, pulling on leash, excecessive barking and bolting at the door are some of the incidents that can endanger your dog. These behaviors increase over time and do not correct themselves. Gaining control of these situations is important so that the family can enjoy their dog. Through positive reinforcement, better control can be achieved and your leadership will be established.

• Puppy K

All puppy classes are American Kennel Club (AKC) Puppy S.T.A.R. (Socialize, Train, Activity, Responsibility) classes. These classes are designed to get dog owners and their puppies off to a good start. The AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy program is an incentive program for loving dog owners who have taken time to take their puppies through a basic training class.

This six week program is designed to teach basic obedience cues (e.g. "down", "come" and "stay"), socialization skills, crate training and address behavioral issues e.g. housebreaking, nipping and chewing. Socialization is an important part of a puppy's development and this program allows your puppy to be introduced to other puppies in a controlled environment so he/she can learn how to get along with other dogs. Relationship skills are also addressed so the puppy will develop a strong relationship with his/her owners.

Classes from March through November are also taught in Somerset. Check message board for exact start dates. Call 908-625-4841 for details and registration.
